Devilishly Sexy

I guess it's never too early to start getting your Halloween costume together . . . even if you order it right before you head out to the beach or a summer barbecue. A lingerie company called Jada Michaels ignored the fact that it's only mid-August and just released the results of a survey asking men to rank the five sexiest Halloween costumes. Here you go. Keep in mind all of these are the "sexy" version . . . so, when we say "pirate" we don't mean wearing a peg-leg and a big overcoat. More like lingerie and maybe an eye patch. Read more HERE

#1.) Pin-Up Girl. Specifically The "Home Again" costume. This is a pin-up girl style costume that makes it look like you're waiting for a guy to get home from World War Two. It's got a camouflage dress with a removable skirt.

#3.) Gangster. Looking like the "Bonnie" of Bonnie and Clyde. But Bonnie on her sexier days.

#4.) Pirate. Think Penelope Cruz or Keira Knightley from the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies, not Johnny Depp.

#5.) Feline. Leopard, cat, you know, the standards.

Death by TV?!

Every Single Hour of TV You Watch Takes 22 Minutes Off Your Life. Remember this the next time you settle into the couch for an eight-hour marathon of "Teen Mom" on MTV: It's LITERALLY speeding up your path to DEATH. A new study out of the University of Queensland in Australia found that for every single hour of TV you watch, it takes 21.8 minutes off your life. So if you watch three hours of TV tonight, you can take one hour off your life expectancy. If you watch an average of six hours of TV a day over the course of your life, it could cost you a total of almost five years. Now, keep in mind, the study didn't really factor in other lifestyle choices. So, if you watch TV but you don't smoke and exercise daily, you're going to be better off than someone who sits in front of the TV, smoking, and drinking gravy. But in general, it's a warning that watching TV . . . and just sitting on the couch, not moving . . . can have a MUCH more negative effect on your health than you realized. Read more HERE

Funny or Not?

Not sure that "America's Funniest Home Videos" is necessarily THE authority on what is and isn't funny . . . but after 21 years on the air, at least they have some data they can use to try to figure it out. "America's Funniest Home Videos" just released this list of the six LEAST-FUNNY STATES in the U.S., based on how many times those states have had a video that was voted the funniest of the week by their studio audience. The problem is, they didn't weight it by population, so you'll notice a connection between states with small populations and a low number of wins. But did you really expect a rigorous academic study from "America's Funniest Home Videos"? Regardless, in the past 21 years, here are the least-funny. . .

#1.) Washington, D.C., zero wins
#2.) Rhode Island, one win
#3.) Alaska, two wins
#4.) North Dakota, two wins
#5.) Vermont, three wins
#6.) Wyoming, three wins

They didn't announce the win totals for other states, but they did say California has had the most winners. But remember, Californians have sent in over 100,000 tapes over the show's history. People in D.C. have only sent in 404. Read more HERE

Only you can prevent... dognappings.

According to the American Kennel Club, for whatever reason, dog thefts are way up this year. In the first seven months of 2011, they say there were 224 dogs stolen. That's up 32% from the same period in 2010 . . . and for all of 2010, there were 255 total thefts. The American Kennel Club says that the motivation for stealing a dog is always money . . . which is why thefts go up when the economy is bad. Usually, a dog thief plans either to resell the dog or hold it for a ransom. In the horror story version, someone might try to sell your dog for dogfighting or medical testing. The AKC has a list of tips for preventing dognappings . . . the big ones are not leaving your dog alone in the front yard, tied up outside of a store, or unattended in a car . . . even if it's locked. (--Which you probably shouldn't be doing anyway.)

Pay with the FORCE

There's a decent chance you've never heard of the tiny island country called Niue. (--nee you ee.) It's a country with 2,000 residents that's not even half the size of Rhode Island, located about 1,500 miles from New Zealand in the Pacific Ocean. But the Force is strong with them. Niue has announced that they're unveiling a brand new line of coins that feature "Star Wars" characters. Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Darth Vader, Yoda, C-3PO, and others will be on their official currency. They have full permission from GEORGE LUCAS to make the coins. It's the first time that "Star Wars" characters have appeared on any country's real currency. Niue is producing the coins with help from the New Zealand mint. The characters will be on coins that are worth $2 in New Zealand money, which converts to about $1.66 in U.S. dollars. But no one's going to spend them like that . . . they're clearly collectors' items. They're going to be sold in sets of 18 . . . eight one-ounce silver coins and 10 silver-plated metal coins. Overall, you're getting at least $42 worth of silver there, and the sets will sell for about $460. So no one's going to spend them on $2 items. Niue is only making 50,000 of each coin, so collectors are going to end up paying big money if they want these. They go on sale November 1st. Read more HERE

Go Team BEER!

For the past century, The Man has tried to keep beer and alcohol out of college football stadiums. Something about the sanctity and innocence of the game or whatever. Well, more and more colleges are realizing that integrity is important . . . but big money is more important. College football prints money. And selling beer at the games prints even more money. So, this season, 20 of the 119 Division One-A college football programs will have beer on sale at the regular concession stands at their stadiums. That's DOUBLE the number that sold beer in the 2001 season. West Virginia University is selling beer for the first time this season. They say they expect to bring in a profit of at least $1 MILLION. The NCAA allows schools to set their own policies on alcohol sales. They do have a rule banning alcohol from their bowl and championship games . . . and also ban advertising for alcohol at those venues.

Party On!

Princeton Review released its annual list of the top party schools in the country yesterday. And as always, the students from the number one school celebrated, and the administration was mortified. This year, Ohio University in Athens, Ohio was named the top party school in the country. The rankings are based on a survey of more than 122,000 students nationwide. Ohio University . . . not to be confused with Ohio State . . . has a long-standing reputation as a major party school. Their Halloween party has been going on since the 1970s and draws at least 20,000 people. After the rankings were released, Ohio issued a statement saying, quote, "We are disappointed in the party school ranking as it is not indicative of the overall experience of Ohio students and does not match the data we have collected."

Here is the full top 20:

1. Ohio University, Athens, Ohio
2. University of Georgia, Athens, Ga.
3. University of Mississippi, Oxford, Miss.

The Cheating Game

According to a new survey, the place where a man is most likely to cheat on his wife is . . . a WEDDING. Hopefully not his own, I guess. Of the men in the survey who'd cheated, 32% said they'd done it at a wedding, making that the top answer. A relationship expert says that can make sense. Quote, "At a wedding, all the elements are present for one-night stands. Quite a bit of booze, dancing, people dressed to impress, an air of sexual electricity, and access to hotel rooms." Bachelor parties came in as the second-most common place that men had cheated, at 27%. Office Christmas parties came in third, at 21%. And high school or college reunions came in fourth, at 9%. The survey also asked women where they THOUGHT men were most likely to cheat on them . . . and weddings actually came in LAST. Women believed office Christmas parties were the most likely place, followed by bachelor parties, then school reunions, and finally weddings. Read more HERE

As most of you probably know, several of the Marvel Comics superheroes are being lumped together for the "Avengers" movie that comes out next summer. If you haven't seen "Captain America" yet, there's a brief teaser for "The Avengers" at the end. Not to mention Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury . . . the guy who puts the team together. Well, an even BRIEFER version of that brief teaser is now online
