What Would Kurt Say?

Courtney Love says Kurt Cobain would have enjoyed playing Guitar Hero. "What p**ses me off the most about it is I think Kurt would be fine with having five Kurt Cobains singing the (Spice Girls) song Wannabe, like, 'Tell me what you want, what you really really want.'... I think he'd find that really funny.

Kurt Cobain's Dignity

Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic took to Twitter yesterday where they asked the makers of Guitar Hero to restore Kurt Cobain's dignity. They are upset that his likeness sings Bon Jovi and hip hop songs in the new video game.

We want people to know that we are dismayed and very disappointed in the way a facsimile of Kurt is used in the Guitar Hero game. The name and likeness of Kurt Cobain are the sole property of his estate – we have no control whatsoever in that area.

While we were aware of Kurt's image being used with two Nirvana songs, we didn't know players have the ability to unlock the character. This feature allows the character to be used with any kind of song the player wants. We urge Activision to do the right thing in "re-locking" Kurt's character so that this won't continue in the future. It's hard to watch an image of Kurt pantomiming other artists' music alongside cartoon characters.

Kurt Cobain wrote songs that hold a lot of meaning to people all over the world. We feel he deserves better.

Bike Hero

This is such a wicked video a friend of mine showed me on YouTube. It's a kid and his friends who set up, Guitar Hero style, the song "Prisoner of Society" by The Living End. This is an insane speed metal band and its set on hard! I can't imagine how long it took this kid to set it up and get it right, but he rides through his town, in perfect timing and even has lights on the front of the bike corresponding to blink when the chords are hit.
