On the Wagon... again?

STP was performing in Texas over the weekend when Scott Weiland broke down and talked about his sobriety. He said, "I believe in music, I believe in rock 'n roll, I be lieve in friendship and family. But you know what, on the 8th December will be time when I stopped doing dope... I started drinking again. I got divorced, my wife... And my whole world basically spun around and so you know what, I'm gonna take care of myself (now) because that's what I need to take care of... Instead of just having a few shows, I wanna have a whole hell of a lot of shows."

A reviewer for HoustonPress.com wrote, "He seemed off mentally, a little too meandering and talkative, bringing up his own past drug and alcohol abuse... Weiland's banter in between songs was odd and confusing. He touched on using inner-ear monitors, the band's first gigs... what grunge means to him and why bands don't destroy gear anymore."

STP has postponed several of their Texas shows

Merry Xmas... love Scott

Scott Weiland says he is recording a Christmas CD that will feature "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas", a reggae version of "Little Drummer Boy" and other classics. He says, "It'll be very traditional - strings, upright bass, jazz horns , piano, and guitar. I'm sort of picking various versions of these songs... my favorite versions, with a little twist."

Lip Legit

During the Stone Temple Pilots weekend show in Toronto, Scott Weiland sang accapella to dispel rumors he has been lip synching on tour. STP also covered Led Zeppelin’s 'Dancing Day'. Scott told fans at another show. "There has never been a time in the 25-plus years that I have been singing with these guys, or a combination of these guys, or with other musicians, that I have not sang. So, whoever started that bulls**t claim, like so many other bulls**t claims... it's such a travesty. We are a rock 'n' roll band. Rock 'n' roll bands perform live."

Stress Test

Scott Weiland tells Details magazine that he got a massage while his wife gave birth. "I was incredibly stressed-out. She was having contractions and that was tripping me out, so I called up our friend and she gave me a massage. I laid out right next to where Mary was. No one I've ever talked to thought it was weird. It's incredibly stressful when the person you love is having a child. And I was sober at that time, so I needed something to take the edge off."

Up-Front

Slash says Velvet Revolver's next lead singer will be someone who isn't as famous as Scott Weiland. "It's really hard to do something with a voice that's already really well known in an original band. We want someone who is really good that hasn't been recognized by the whole country as being amazing, but somebody who is just on the precipice of just being discovered."
