Dying For It


In an extreme case of gotta-have-it, a Chinese teen sold his kidney to get money to buy an iPhone and an iPad, Reuters reports. A group of five people who arranged the organ transfer, including a surgeon, have been charged with "illegal organ trading" and "intentional injury." They received roughly $31,500 for the kidney, while the teen got $3,500. The teen apparently admitted to his mom that he had sold the organ when she asked how he had gotten his shiny new Apple paraphernalia. He is now suffering from renal deficiency, and, sadly, his condition is reportedly deteriorating.

iPad Competition

Blackberry plans to take on the iPad with its new BlackPad. It will be out before the end of the year and features a seven-inch touch screen and at least one built-in camera. The BlackPad will have Bluetooth and broadband connections, but will only be able to connect to mobile phone networks through a BlackBerry smartphone. Apple’s iPad sold three million units within its first 80 days.

Stuart Hughes is selling a solid gold iPad for $190,000. It features 25 flawless diamonds, 53 individually set sparkling gems and a 22 carat gold Apple logo. Only 10 gold iPads have been produced.
