Rob Zombie is a commercial star!

Here's something that we didn't see coming, but that actually ends up making complete sense: ROB ZOMBIE has filmed a commercial . . . for Woolite laundry detergent. Now, this isn't a typical Woolite commercial. It's titled "Torturer," and the slogan is: "Don't let detergents torture your clothes. Save them with Woolite." It has the vibe of a horror movie, which is pretty sweet since it's an ad for detergent. Rob recently said, quote, "It's a very bizarre TV commercial for a product like this. Honestly, I was shocked when they called me to do it." The commercial premiered yesterday on Woolite's Facebook page.

Angelica Nicholson recently called the Portage, Indiana police on Facebook because they were slow in removing a nude picture of her from their Website. The 18 year-old sent the naked shot to a male friend before his girlfriend found it on his phone and posted it on her Facebook page. Nicholson told cops she was a minor at age 17, so they would work harder and faster in getting the shot removed. She was arrested for false reporting after cops found out she was legal and really 18.

Buddy the Elf demanded to host SNL Xmas

Will Ferrell fans want him to host SNL as Buddy the Elf from his movie The Elf. A Facebook account, simply called "Dear SNL, Please Let Buddy the Elf Host the 2010 SNL Christmas", has over 125,920 fans while a Twitter account, called Buddy_On_SNL, has 554 followers.

Pickle-back Update

The Facebook group, Can This Pickle Get More Fans Than Nickleback?, was set up on February 8th to see if they could get more friends than the rock group. Nickelback has 1,413,167 Facebook followers. Pickle beat them on Friday with 1,414,000 fans.

A group called 'Can this pickle get more fans than Nickleback?' has launched a campaign to get more Facebook friends than Nickelback. The pickle group has attracted 913,000 fans in a little over a week. Nickelback has 1.4 million friends.

Facebook now has as many users as Indonesia has people. Indonesia is the world's fifth-most populous country.

OMG of the day

When news of Michael Jackson's death broke, Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, and AIM all slowed or crashed. The last time this happened was when Barack Obama was sworn into presidency. AOL released a statement saying, "Today was a seminal moment in Internet history. We've never seen anything like it in terms of scope or depth. Historically, celebrity news prompts a worldwide outpouring with several key consumer behaviors – searching, sharing and reacting to the news followed by online tributes has become the modern way to mourn. There was a significant increase in traffic due to today’s news and AIM was down for approximately 40 minutes this afternoon.” In addition, many of Michael Jackson's fans placed candles, flowers and bears around the wrong star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. L.A. reporter Michael Jackson, who is alive, also has a star on the walk. Scores of fans had no they were placing items on his star rather that the King of Pop's. Other Jackson fans are honoring his legacy by walking around L.A. with "RIP" inked on their foreheads. Fans couldn't visit Michael's true star because the premiere of Bruno was blocking it. In Harlem, hundreds of fans danced in the streets to "Billie Jean" while chanting "Michael Michael Michael".

Daily Rant: Breast Feeding Photos Banned

Today I heard, and read, on several news sources that Facebook has decided to ban photos of mothers breast feeding their children. What they've actually said is "Photos containing a fully exposed breast (as defined by showing the nipple or areola) do violate those terms (on obscene, pornographic or sexually explicit material) and may be removed," Which is right. I don't think that breast feeding photos should be allowed on Facebook. There are many sick individuals out there who would look at photos like that far out of the context in which they were posted. I doubt the mothers posting these would like to receive lewd messages from these people. Heck people send messages like this to people who aren't exposed... plus there are people under the age of 18 on these sites and these types of photos can also be used for purposes other than they were intended for. We try to keep our kids safe and pure from these images. It is not right to have them out there. I believe in some instances, you can get an "adult" album which is only accessible by those over the age of 18. Still, we all know what these galleries are for, and that would not be in promoting breast feeding of infants and the welfare of children. I support facebook's owners in their decision to can such images. Of course people have a right to freedom of expression but I think they should think about what they are expressing, and more importantly, what the consequences of this will be. (i.e. nasty messages and sickening acts prompted by innocence).
