Funny or Die
Earlier this month, some Detroit Lions fans FREAKED when NICKELBACK was selected to play the halftime show of the Thanksgiving game between the Lions and the Green Bay Packers. Someone started an online petition asking that Nickelback be replaced, and it's picked up over 55,000 supporters. But it didn't work. The band is going to perform. However, Nickelback did participate in a Funny or Die video . . . in which they joke about the "controversy" and poke fun at themselves. WARNING: It includes UNCENSORED profanity!!

Good Grief!
National Toy Hall of Fame . . . the people running it make some strange decisions. It's in Rochester, New York, and they just announced the 2011 class. And the three toys joining the ranks are Hot Wheels cars . . . dollhouses . . . and the blanket? The first two make sense. Generations of boys and even girls have loved Hot Wheels. And generations of girls . . . and occasionally boys . . . have loved dollhouses. But while kids love their blankets . . . they're not really TOYS. The other finalists this year included Dungeons & Dragons, the pogo stick, the Rubik's Cube, Jenga, Simon, "Star Wars" action figures, "Transformers", Twister, the puppet, and Radio Control vehicles. The 2010 inductees were the Game of Life and playing cards. In 2009, they added Big Wheels, the Nintendo Game Boy, and the ball. The Hall of Fame likes to induct "basic" things like the ball and the blanket. In 2008, they inducted the STICK and in 2005 they inducted the CARDBOARD BOX. Read more HERE
$$$Thanksgiving$$$
Last week, the American Farm Bureau Federation released their annual study on the cost of serving Thanksgiving dinner. And they found the average cost of a 10-person dinner, including turkey, lots of sides, and dessert, is $49.20. Not sure what grocery store they're shopping at because NO ONE here in the real world thinks they can host Thanksgiving that cheap. Spending $50 is such a ridiculous notion that Harris didn't even ask about that small of an amount.
In a new nationwide survey by Harris Interactive:
Seven out of 10 Americans will spend at LEAST $100 to host Thanksgiving.
60% of people plan to save money by using coupons
52% of people believe it will cost them between $100 and $250.
37% will shop at a warehouse store
34% will ask their guests to bring a dish.
31% of Americans who are hosting Thanksgiving think they'll spend under $100.
10% are planning to play a VERY dangerous game and wait until the last possible second to go shopping, hoping that stores will slash prices to empty out their inventory.

What might have been....
Did you know that TOM CRUISE almost got the lead in "Titanic"? Tom's agent actually reached out to director JAMES CAMERON when the project was announced. As we all know, LEONARDO DICAPRIO ended up with the part. Here are some other casting near-misses, according to E! Online . . .
ROBERT PATTINSON isn't the only guy who had a shot at Edward Cullen in the "Twilight" franchise. BEN BARNES, who plays Prince Caspian in the "Narnia" movies, and JACKSON RATHBONE, who plays Jasper Hale in the "Twilight" flicks, also tried out for it.
The studio tried to pressure director FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA into casting the very Sicilian-looking ROBERT REDFORD as Michael Corleone in "The Godfather". He went with AL PACINO.
"Batman Begins" director CHRISTOPHER NOLAN was torn between CHRISTIAN BALE and JAKE GYLLENHAAL. Bale won.
Pixar originally wanted BILLY CRYSTAL for the part of Buzz Lightyear in "Toy Story". To this day he says it's the only role he regrets passing on. His loss was TIM ALLEN'S gain.
This one is actually pretty well-known: TOM SELLECK was originally offered the part of Indiana Jones in "Raiders of the Lost Ark". But he couldn't take it because he was committed to the TV series "Magnum, P.I.". So they went with HARRISON FORD.
Total Recall MMO
Chinese gaming company ZQGame announced plans today for an MMO game based on the upcoming film Total Recall. The film, set for release next year, is a remake of the 1990 movie and stars Colin Farrell as the guy Arnold Schwarzenegger played in original.
The game will be fully 3D and entirely browser based, with no need to download any software. ZQGame promises that the game will feature console quality graphics, and will also be free to play. According to the developer, the game will support itself with "micro-transactions containing a hybrid of features from traditional MMOs and social games, such as PVP and PVE environments and a collaborative "memory quest" system."
The game will officially release on August 3 of next year, the same day as the film. Read more HERE

States and Cities
If You Could Live in Any State, Which One Would You Choose? Harris Interactive just released the results of their annual survey that asks people: "If you could live in ANY state except the one you live in now, which state would you choose?" And, as always people flock to good weather. For the first time ever, HAWAII came in first place. But it's been in the top three every year since 2001. California came in second place, Florida came in third. In other words, America's three states with great weather are the top three. After that things get a little more centered around personal interests. Texas is fourth . . . Colorado is fifth . . . North Carolina is sixth . . . Oregon is seventh . . . Arizona is eighth . . . Washington is ninth . . . and Virginia is tenth. They didn't release which state got the fewest votes. The survey also asked people what city they'd most want to live in or near, other than the one they're in now. And people generally gravitated toward big cities rather than ones with good weather. New York City came in first and it's been in first place for the past 11 years. San Diego came in second . . . Seattle is third . . . Dallas is fourth . . . Las Vegas fifth . . . San Francisco sixth . . . Boston seventh . . . Chicago eighth . . . Honolulu ninth . . . and Denver tenth. When people were asked what city they'd LEAST want to live in . . . New York came in first there too. Detroit was second, L.A. was third, D.C. was fourth, and Chicago was fifth.
"Husband Motivator" App
Ladies, do you want your husband to do more around the house? Now there's an app for that. The Husband Motivator uses artificial intelligence to figure out the best way to get a husband to do household chores. Shelle Rose Charvet is the president of Weongozi, who made the app. She said, quote, "The surprising thing is that most people don't know what motivates their soulmate." The app gives a wife a four-question quiz about her husband, and that's enough information to unlock the, quote, "hidden triggers that motivate him." Women are given short video tips and a word-for-word script they can read to their husband. The app is designed to be used repeatedly, so when your husband figures out what you're doing, the app is one step ahead. The Husband Motivator can get your husband to perform in any number of areas, including:
Chores, Child care and family activities, and Intimacy, from sex to talking about issues. Read more HERE

Cat PPL vs. Dog PPL
A website called Hunch.com polled over 200,000 pet owners to find out if they were cat people or dog people. And they also asked a bunch of weird questions to find out how they're different. It turns out they have a few things in common: They both tend to talk to animals, including cats AND dogs. They're both just as likely to have a college degree. And they both hate shirts and sweaters that have pictures of animals on them. Now, here are eight weird ways they're different.

Worst Drivers in America come from...
This is the most thorough attempt we've ever seen to rank the 50 states by driving ability. So let's get ready to JUDGE. All 50 states got ranked by fatalities per million miles driven, number of tickets, drunk driving rates, and careless driving rates. Then the ranks in those categories were averaged out.And the state with the WORST drivers in the country is . . . Louisiana. It's also in the top ten in tickets and drunk driving. The rest of the ten worst driving states are: Missouri, Texas, Florida, Oklahoma, Arizona, Kentucky, Alabama, Montana, and Nevada. On the other end, the people of Rhode Island came out as the best drivers in the country. Had a bad day?
A cleaning woman accidentally ruined a million-dollar sculpture . . . because like most of us, she couldn't tell the difference between modern art and a mess. The Ostwall Museum in Dortmund, Germany had a modern-art display that included a $1.1 million sculpture by German artist Martin Kippenberger. The piece is called "When it Starts Dripping From the Ceiling", and it had a bunch of wooden slats over what appeared to be a dried puddle on the floor. A cleaning woman saw the stain on the floor, and thought the ceiling was leaking. So she got to work and completely scrubbed away the dried puddle. The cleaning staff had been warned to stay at least eight inches away from the artwork, so museum officials aren't sure how the misunderstanding occurred. The obvious solution would be to have Martin fix it. Unfortunately, he can't . . . because he DIED in 1997. The sculpture was on loan from a private collector. The owner said it should remain on display while they decide whether or not to repair it. Read more HERE

NO KIDS ALLOWED!
A Restaurant That Banned Children Under Six Has Seen a Big Jump in Business. Back in July, McDain's Restaurant and Golf Center in Monroeville, Pennsylvania got national attention when its owner, Mike Vuick, decided to BAN all children under age six from eating in the restaurant. In an email to his customers, he wrote, quote, "We feel that McDain's is not a place for young children. Their volume can't be controlled and many, many times, they have disturbed other customers." And yes, that's legal, restaurants can't ban people of different races or handicaps, because that's illegal. But the law doesn't protect children, so it's totally within the restaurant's right to refuse them service. And now, four months after McDain's started the ban, the local media checked in with them to see how things were doing. And it turns out . . . BUSINESS IS BOOMING. Vuick says that he's seen a massive 20% increase in business ever since he banned children. He also says he's gotten a lot of feedback on the policy but it's been 20-to-one in favor of the ban. Quote, "People came from as far away as Detroit, Columbus, D.C. . . . to congratulate me on the move." Read more HERE
Husband finds sex tape of wife online... should he tell her?
DEAR ABBY: My wife and I have been married for 10 years, and it is a wonderful marriage. We love each other very much, never argue and get along great. We have a 2-year-old child.
Recently I found a "sex tape" online of my wife with the guy she dated before me. This video was taken without her knowledge and is from 13 years ago, Because of this, I am not upset about it.
My question is, should I bring this to her attention, and if so, how? I feel she needs to know it's out there. I'm reacting to this as a man would. I don't know how a woman would react. Please help. -- IT'S PRIVATE
DEAR IT'S PRIVATE: Although there are no sex tapes of me floating around, I can tell you from a woman's perspective that if there was one (and the lighting was unflattering), I'd be furious. Your wife has a right to know, so don't keep her in the dark.
P.S. How did you come across that video? I'm sure she will be interested to know.

MOST METAL
"Rolling Stone" recently polled their readers to come up with a list of the Top 10 Metal Bands of All Time. They released the results yesterday. For example, LED ZEPPELIN made the Top 10, and DREAM THEATER came in second place, behind METALLICA. There are write-ups on each band at RollingStone.com.
Here are the results:
1.) Metallica
2.) Dream Theater
3.) Black Sabbath
4.) Iron Maiden
5.) Slayer
6.) Megadeth
7.) Judas Priest
8.) Led Zeppelin
9.) Pantera
10.) Tool
No Love for Nickelback
NICKELBACK was selected to play the halftime show of the Thanksgiving football game between the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers. The game is being held in Detroit, and the local fans do NOT want Nickelback to be there. In fact, there's an online petition making the rounds asking the band to be replaced, because the fans are apparently DISGUSTED by Nickelback. Here's the full explanation, from the petition: Quote, "This game is nationally televised, do we really want the rest of the U.S. to associate Detroit with Nickelback? Detroit is home to so many great musicians and they chose Nickelback?!?!?! Does anyone even like Nickelback? Is this some sort of ploy to get people to leave their seats during halftime to spend money on alcoholic beverages and concessions? This is completely unfair to those of us who purchased tickets to the game. At least the people watching at home can mute their TVs. The Lions ought to think about their fans before choosing such an awful band to play at halftime." You can view the petition on Change.org.

Inkin the Valley WINNERS!
Angry Birds RULE!
For the billions of dollars that's being spent making video games as sophisticated, gorgeous, realistic, and mind-blowing as possible . . . the most popular video game of all time now involves flinging two-dimensional birds into green, body-less pigs. Yesterday, the video game company Rovio, which makes "Angry Birds", announced that the game has now been purchased 500 million times. Which makes it the best-selling video game OF ALL TIME. Bigger than "Super Mario Bros.", bigger than "Tetris", bigger than "Grand Theft Auto" . . . even bigger than "Pong". And "Angry Birds" has only been around for two years. It's much cheaper than other games . . . it costs a few bucks, while games for the Xbox or Wii generally cost $40 to $60 . . . but sales are sales. And thanks to an explosion in people playing games on their phones, "Angry Birds" is number one. For comparison, "Tetris" appears to be the second-most popular game ever, with over 175 million sales. The entire "Super Mario" franchise . . . which includes 16 games . . . has sold approximately 262 million. Read more HERE
