DAILY WTF: Topless Car Chase
Who doesn't like to drive with their top down? A Florida woman allegedly told authorities that when a deputy tried to pull her over for speeding, she didn't stop because she was driving topless. When a deputy attempted to pull a speeding pick-up truck on Saturday, the vehicle allegedly turned onto another street and sped away, running a stop sign and nicking an oak tree in the process, but the driver kept going. The deputy lost sight of the truck, but ultimately a sheriff's helicopter located the vehicle parked behind a mobile home, with passenger side mirror broken, and an oak leaf sitting on the remains. When deputies found the woman at home, she admitted that she had been driving, claiming that she had been driving topless and hadn't wanted to be pulled over while half-naked. She was arrested for fleeing and eluding law enforcement and given a thumbs up for a creative excuse. Read more HERE

Witnesses told officers that the couple was openly fondling each other in full view of fellow Walmart shoppers. Additionally, the pair was accused of shoplifting the sexual lubricant and other items. Municipal Court complaints filed against Call and Gianakon accuse them of engaging “in sexual intercourse or sodomy with any person or animal with knowledge or reasonable anticipation that the participants are being viewed by another.” Call and Gianakon--both of whom appeared sober--were briefly booked into the Reno County jail on the misdemeanor counts. Did they have to include "animal" in that charge since the woman involved was a "cougar"?

Toe Sucker Gets Off
A registered sex offender/foot fetishist who this month tricked a teenager into allowing him to suck her toe inside a Walmart in Georgia will not be charged in connection with the icky encounter. Investigators with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office have concluded that a possible battery case against Joey Leaphart, 43, was “unfounded”. The woman told officers that he approached her claiming to be a representative of the “America’s Funniest Home Videos” TV show and offered to pay for her purchases if she agreed to cooperate with a “prank.” Which included photographing her foot, then he asked to kiss it and eventually said “Don’t worry, I don’t bite,” before sucking her toe and finishing with “Oh, it tasted so good though,” before running from the Walmart in Grovetown. The creeper escaped arrest because he “made physical content” with the “consent” of the 18 year old victim.

Blunderbuss+
There may be more solo tracks from Jack White headed our way. The ex-White Stripes frontman says that while making his debut solo album, Blunderbuss, he recorded a large number of tracks that may surface someday. “I recorded maybe 25 songs [during the Blunderbuss sessions],” White tells the U.K.’s MSN Music in a video interview. “I’m still working on the other ones and these ones that came out on Blunderbuss were just the ones that seemed to fit together right now.” White added that he was “surprised” that Blunderbuss did so well, scoring the #1 spot on the U.K. album chart and his first #1 album on the Billboard 200 album chart its first week out. “It’s always shocking to me…because I have no idea exactly what people want to hear or what they’d like to know about or what they can relate to,” notes the singer. “I just can try and do the best of what I think is interesting or…means something to me.”

Win a Honda from Linkin Park
In accordance with the Honda Civic Tour tradition, Linkin Park has customized and autographed a one-of-a-kind Honda Civic Si Coupe and a CBR250R Motorcycle, which will travel with them from city to city for the upcoming trek.
Fans who register at HondaCivicTour.com will get the chance to win the vehicles, as well as an exclusive fly-away trip to Los Angeles, where they'll receive signed instruments from Linkin Park and visit the guys on the set during a music video shoot.
“The idea for the customization on the car was to take something based on the artwork from our new album, Living Things,” said multi-instrumentalist Mike Shinoda. “The 3-D figure you see on the album cover is actually a scan of Chester’s head breaking apart and fracturing, with fire underneath. The car and motorcycle have a similar look. The motorcycle makes me want to ride motorcycles. It kind of has a superhero look.”
Fans can register for the contest from now until November 30, 2012, at 11:59 p.m. ET. The grand prize will be awarded sometime before December 31, 2013.
Linkin Park will kick off their co-headlining tour with Incubus on August 11 at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, VA. 8/17 Camden NJ

We've now made it possible for you to be there in spirit.”

Slipknot taking "Baby Steps"
For months now, members of Slipknot have expressed different opinions about the band’s plans to make their first album without late bassist Paul Gray, who died in 2010. Frontman Corey Taylor says that while the band will definitely make a new album, they’re not sure exactly when they’ll begin the recording process.
“We're just taking baby steps and trying to do it right,” Taylor tells the Phoenix New Times. “Not rush into anything, and just get to a point where we're ready to make music without Paul. Which is going to be really hard, but we need to go down that road and…just coming together as a family again for it to be right."
Taylor added he felt that guitarist and Slipknot founding member Donnie Steele was the right choice to fill in for Gray during their current Rockstar Mayhem Festival dates with Slayer and Motörhead.
“It just makes sense to have someone from the family come in and pick up, help us pick up the pieces,” explains the singer. “But I don't see us ever replacing Paul. There's no replacing. But for now, Donnie is doing a great job and he's been helping us carry on.”
"You're a lie" nearly Slashed from album
There’s no denying that Slash’s single, “You’re a Lie,” is a hit, but the irony is the song was almost cut from the track list from his second solo album, Apocalyptic Love.
“The original version of [‘You’re a Lie’] had a different chorus and we never felt one hundred percent comfortable with it and so when we were in pre-production, the song was really on the chopping block,” Slash tells ABC News Radio. “I came up with a different idea for the guitar part for the chorus and…Myles [Kennedy] came up with a whole different vocal and changed the song completely and all of the sudden it made it.”
Slash noted that he plans to make another solo album with his backing band, Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators, just as soon as singer Myles Kennedy finishes working on a new album with his other band, Alter Bridge.
“Alter Bridge is Myles’s band so I don’t want to interrupt that,” Slash explains. “I don’t want to cause any friction, so as soon as there’s a time that seems right I’ll probably be writing material all throughout next year and when the time is right we’ll go in and get another record done.”

Mark Wahlberg hits the (online) books
He's got a successful film career as an actor and producer that includes two Oscar nominations, but Mark Wahlberg doesn't have a high school diploma. That, however, is about to change. After reading that 41-year-old Wahlberg regretted dropping out of high school his freshman year, Kerry Tondorf, the headmaster of Boston's Snowden International High School in Copley Square, wrote to Wahlberg, telling him of a program the school offers to allow students to complete their high school educations online. Says Tondorf, "He called me the next day, and he seemed very excited and serious about the opportunity," reports the Boston Globe. Snowden International High School in Copley Square was known as Copley Square High School when Wahlberg dropped out to give showbiz a try. Over 25 years later, he's already enrolled in the online program to complete his high school education and has even signed up for his first class. The program allows students to study and complete classes at their own pace, just as long as they log in at least once a week.
Black Keys sue Pizza Hut & Home Depot
The Black Keys have sued Home Depot, Pizza Hut and Pizza Hut's ad agency, claiming that the companies used the band's songs without permission, Bloomberg.com reports. The band alleges that Home Depot used parts of their hit "Lonely Boy" in a power tools commercial, while Pizza Hut used parts of another hit, "Gold on the Ceiling," in a commercial for its Cheesy Bites Pizza. Both songs appear on the band's 2011 album El Camino, and the songs' co-producer and co-writer Danger Mouse is also suing. “We haven’t seen the complaint but we take intellectual property very seriously,” a spokesman for Home Depot told Bloomberg. Spokespersons for Pizza Hut and its ad agency did not respond to Bloomberg's request for comment. According to the suits, which were filed in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, the band last month requested that the companies stop running the ads with their songs in them.
Orion Music + More
Over the weekend, Metallica launched their new annual music, arts and lifestyle festival called Orion Music + More. While the event featured the band performing their signature albums Metallica, a.k.a. the Black Album, and Ride the Lightning in their entirety, it also included more than 35 bands from a wide variety of musical genres. During a press conference with reporters on Friday, frontman James Hetfield said that one of the main reasons they created the event was to offer metal fans the opportunity to expand their musical horizons. “People come to a festival for the music, to hang with their friends, and soak up, hopefully, a different style of music,” explained the singer. “We’ve got the best of different kinds of music. There’s quite a few bands on the bill that I’m not a big fan of but I respect the fact that they’re good at what they do and opening the door for someone who might enjoy that is part of it as well.” Hetfield added that the festival was also created to help to promote emerging talent in the world of heavy metal music. “There’s a lot of…metal bands that need the exposure,” noted Hetfield. “We think they’re good and they need the exposure and we’re kind of doing our best to get them out in front of people. We’ve been blessed over the 30 years to have built up an amazing family and we’d like to share some of our family with some of these other bands.”

Charlize goes BALD?!
Blonde-haired, Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron is looking a bit different these days, according to E! Online.
The Snow White and the Huntsman star has shaved her head for her role as Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road, a reboot of the 1979 action film that originally starred Mel Gibson. Theron was photographed in Beverly Hills on Monday wearing a grey felt hat over her chrome dome as she carried her six-month-old son Jackson.
The movie, which also stars Tom Hardy, is set to start shooting in Africa next month -- a continent that holds a special place in Theron's heart. Theron was born in Benoni, South Africa, in 1975, and even though she became a U.S. citizen in 2007, she still retains her South African citizenship.
Corgan: Slams and Streams
It seems that Billy Corgan isn’t a fan of Radiohead. The Smashing Pumpkins frontman says that he’s upset that some people consider Radiohead’s contribution to rock music to be more important than that of Deep Purple/Rainbow guitarist Ritchie Blackmore.
“I'll piss on f**king Radiohead, because of all this pomposity,” Corgan tells Antiquiet.com. “This value system that says [guitarist] Jonny Greenwood is more valuable than Ritchie Blackmore. Not in the world I grew up in."
Corgan added that that the very idea of putting one artist’s contribution to music above another bothers him as well. “Have we all made contributions?” asks Corgan. “Yes. I'm not attacking that. I'm attacking the pomposity that says this is more valuable than that. I'm so f**king sick of it, and nobody seems to tire of it."
If you’d like to hear The Pumpkins’ latest contribution to rock music, Oceania, then you’re in luck. The band has just announced that they’ve posted a stream of every song from the new album on iTunes where it'll remain from now until the album's release date on June 19.
