Help for Haiti

Godsmack, Creed and Tom Morello sent an MD-80 airplane with supplies and medical personnel to Haiti yesterday. Scott Stapp met the plane while Sully Erna said, "Since I can't be there to help in person, I want to make my contribution as a fellow human being to give what I can while I'm in the fortunate situation that I am to help those that are so unfortunate in this time of tragedy."

Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder has released a cover of Bruce Springsteen's "My City of Ruins". Proceeds benefit the Haitian relief efforts. The live performance was the highlight of last month's Kennedy Center Honors in Washington, D.C.

Office Studies

The University of Washington is offering a course on The Office called The Office: 2.0. It studies life lessons and themes from hit television shows and is designed to teach students how to create and market a TV show based on the themes and real-life situations of NBC’s hit show.

US Weekly claims Jessica Simpson recently passed gas during a business meeting. A source says she was talking with executives about her denim line when she farted. “While one of the executives was speaking in a room full of five people, Jessica let out a very loud fart. Her mother [Tina Simpson] was there, and it prompted her to turn around and yell, ‘Jessica!’ The tension was extreme. No one knew what to say.”

PETA wants the organizers of Pennsylvania's Groundhog Day Festival to replace Punxsutawney Phil with a robotic stand-in. The group says it's unfair to keep the animal locked up and then subject him to huge crowds and publicity. William Deeley, president of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club, says the animal is "being treated better than the average child in Pennsylvania."

Cover For Haiti

Slash and Will I Am from the Black Eyed Peas have recorded a cover of The Who's "My Generation" for Haiti's earthquake relief effort. The song will debut during the Super Bowl on February 7th. will.i.am tells Billboard.com, "I altered the lyric to fit my generation now... I loved that song way before this even came up, and talking to (The Who star) Pete Townshend on the phone is like, 'What? I'm talking to Pete Townshend on the phone!' That was awesome, being able to just hear their advice and everything. Those guys are just awesome."

Not Dead Yet

50 year-old Jean-Claude Van Damme is planning to fight again. He'll battle Somluck Kamsing, a 37-year-old Thai boxer, who won the gold medal as a featherweight in the 1996 Olympic games. Jean says he is filming his training and the fight for a reality series. "It's the first time in history a guy at 50 will go for a real fight in Macau [China]. It's kind of dangerous, but life is short."

Springing Saints & Sinners

Godsmack is putting the finishing touches on its new album, "Saints & Sinners"., for a tentative spring release. The CD is being produced by Dave Fortman, who has previously worked with EVANESCENCE, SLIPKNOT and MUDVAYNE, among others.

Random Home Depot Concert

TMZ.com reports that Steven Tyler sang two of AEROSMITH's biggest hits a cappella over the loudspeaker this past weekend at a Home Depot in Rancho Mirage, California. "Multiple employees" at the store tell TMZ.com that Tyler randomly picked up the microphone on Saturday and belted out snippets of "Dude Looks Like a Lady" and "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" for all the shoppers to enjoy.

Back In Black In Full

Andy Copping, the organizer of the U.K.'s Download festival, has said that a possiblity exists that AC/DC will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its landmark album, "Back In Black", by performing the LP in its entirety when they headline this year's event. The festival chief said, "Absolutely, of course. You just never know what might happen on the day. I'm not saying it’s going to happen, but it's a possibility."

The cast of MTV's Jersey Shore, which earns a few hundred dollars per episode, wants a huge raise for next season. A source says, "They want $10,000 an episode, arguing that the stars from 'The Hills' get $100,000 per episode and that show doesn't even rate as high. They're hanging together like the cast of 'Friends' and saying if they don't all get the pay increase, none of them will return."

What A Dick!

Actor and comedian Andy Dick was charged with sexual abuse over the weekend. He was performing at the Funny Bone Comedy Club in West Virginia when he allegedly grabbed a bouncer's crotch and kissed a male bar patron. Despite the arrest, Dick still performed at the club on Saturday and Sunday."

Dave Grohl says when he plays with Them Crooked Vultures he doesn't care about his fans. "For me to be in the same room as these two guys - when I sit down and play the drums, I could care less about the other 6000 people there,'' Grohl says. "The people I am playing for are those two guys. I want to put a smile on their faces and I want them to turn around and look at me with their jaws dropped, like 'How the f... did you just do that?'

My Heroes


Naval officers aboard the USS Bataan have been blaring "My Hero" by the Foo Fighters to get pumped up for their arrival in Haiti. Marines and midshipmen plan to deliver supplies starting today.

Chosen to Drive

Lexus is coming out with a new $350,000 car called the LFA. Only 500 are being produced. Buyers must get permission to buy the car. Lexus will choose buyers based on the other cars they own, where they live, and how often and where they drive. The LFA will be able to accelerate from zero to 60 in 3.6 seconds with a top speed of 202 mph.

No Excitment

Once Tiger Woods leaves his sex rehab clinic, he will be banned from having sex for 18 weeks. A former patient says, "You can't have sex and can't get excited. That continues for 90 days after you are discharged." Tiger will also have to sign a "celibacy contract" and write an "empathy letter" to his wife Elin.

Sports Stars Step Up

Sports stars Dwyane Wade, Alonzo Mourning, LeBron James, Chris Paul, Gilbert Arenas, Michael Beasley, Terrell Owens, Randy Moss and Michael Vick have donated $1 million to Haiti's relief efforts. The American Red Cross says the Haiti relief ads that ran during last weekend's NFL games generated $500,000 an hour in donations.

South Dakota State basketball coach Scott Nagy plans to coach barefoot this weekend to raise money and awareness for Haiti's relief effort. His adopted daughter is from Petionville, near the quake's epicenter. Nagy hasn't been able to contact the girl's mother since the quake last Tuesday. Samaritan's Feet, a charitable organization based in Charlotte, will help distribute the shoes. Nagy's goal is to help collect $30,000 and 2,000 pairs of shoes.

Brit-Britney

The Sun claims Britney Spears is acting bizarre again. A source says she's been imitating Stewie from Family Guy while staying at the Hotel Mondrian. "Britney has developed a real fascination for Family Guy. She's been staying in the hotel's penthouse suite and has been watching box sets. She really likes Stewie and has been trying to copy his British accent. It's a bit weird, especially when she's in the gym speaking like a camp Brit."

Haiti Update

John Travolta has arranged for a private plane to fly supplies to Haiti. He says, “I have arranged for a plane to take down some volunteer ministers and some supplies and some medics. I hope that inspires others as well. It’s needed.”

Looters used Bill Clinton's appearance in Haiti to steal toothpaste and rum from local stores. While the press and locals were busy trying to catch a glimpse of the former President the thieves were carting off valuable supplies.

3,000 inmates are now running free in Haiti. They're enjoying their freedom because last week's quake destroyed the country's largest prison.

George Clooney's Hope for Haiti benefit for will include performances from Bono, Sting, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera and Alicia Keys. The Fugees are planning to reunite and perform. A source says, "They buried the hatchet on all their prior beefs. Now they’re going to come together to help raise money for Haiti."

Nurses are using cardboard splints to reset broken bones.

Starbucks has donated $1 million to Haiti's relief efforts.

U.S. soldiers have been authorized to use "deadly force" if they see anyone's life in danger

Rick Santos, the president and CEO of IMA World Health, says he and his colleagues survived 50 hours beneath the rubble of a hotel. "We had one Tootsie Pop and we did share that."

The Royal Caribbean cruise line says they have no plans to abandon Haiti. Ocean liners continue to dock at a private vacation resort 85 miles from Port-au-Prince. Sun-drenched tourists are flocking to Labadee, a beach haven that features a roller coaster and pier. Royal Caribbean has donated $1 million to Haiti's relief efforts and has told Bill Clinton they wil ferry supplies to the island.

Meryl Streep, Gerard Butler, Josh Brolin, Amy Poehler and House's Olivia Wilde are auctioning off the outfits they wore to the Golden Globes. Proceeds will benefit Artists for Peace and Justice, which is raising funds for Haiti's earthquake victims. The auction will start next week on eBay.com

System of A Down bassist Shavo Odadjian says the band is not reuniting even though he hinted they would be in a Tweet. "About my 'are u guys ready for System?'... I'm not sayin we are back but, if so, U guys ready? Sorry for gettin u guys amped. I'm just seeing."

New Tunes

Disturbed plans to record their new CD next month. Guitarist Dan Donegan says, . "We're ready to hit the studio next month," he said. "I think at this point we're probably somewhere between 15 to 18 songs, with the exception of David (Draiman, singer) having to finalize, you know, a few more lyrics to some of the songs."

Giving Back

Chickenfoot's Sammy Hagar is playing a benefit concert for Tessa Ulvestad, a 3-year-old Mill Valley girl who is recovering from a life-saving kidney transplant.
