Billboard Awards Saturday

This year's Billboard Music Awards, set for Sunday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, will be quite the star-studded affair. The telecast, which will air on ABC, will feature a performances from Linkin Park, who are set to release their fifth studio album, Living Things, on June 26. Of course, there also will be some awards handed out -- lots of them, since Billboard has so many different charts. Coldplay, Foster the People, Foo Fighters, Nickelback, AWOLNATION, Mumford & Sons and The Black Keys are among the rock acts that earned nominations for the awards, with Coldplay and Foster the People leading the pack as finalists in five award categories, including Top Rock Artist, Top Rock Album Artist and Top Rock Song. Foo Fighters and Mumford & Sons are both finalists in three categories, while Nickelback and AWOLNATION have each scored a single nomination. Taking a look at just a few of the top categories, the nominees for both Top Rock Artist and Top Alternative Artist are Coldplay, Foster the People, Foo Fighters, Mumford & Sons, The Black Keys. The nominees for both Top Rock Album and Top Alternative Album are Coldplay’s Mylo Xyloto, Foster the People’s Torches, Foo Fighters’ Wasting Light, Mumford & Sons’ Sigh No More and Nickelback’s Here and Now. In addition, Coldplay will be competing for Top Duo/Group award, while Foster the People is in the running for Top New Artist at the event. The show will be hosted by Modern Family stars Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell. The 2012 Billboard Music Awards will air Sunday night at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
