A Brazilian court has ordered McDonald's to pay a former manager $17,500 because he gained 65 pounds while working for them. The 32-year-old man said he felt pressure to sample the food on a daily basis because McDonald's hired "mystery clients" to randomly visit restaurants and report on the food, service and cleanliness. The man also said the company offered free lunches to employees, adding to his caloric intake while on the job.

There are multiple people involved in this trap, which is very atypical for Jigsaw." Roadside prostitutes working on a roundabout outside the Spanish city of Lleida have begun wearing yellow reflective bibs to avoid fines from police. The prostitutes have donned the high visibility vests, similar to those worn by road workers or drivers whose cars have broken down, to save themselves the €40 (£36) fines. Police said they were not trying to get rid of the prostitutes, but were simply including them in a push to enforce use of the fluorescent bibs, which must be worn by anyone walking down a rural highway. Police say they have no other reason for fining the prostitutes, whose chosen spot on a roundabout of the LL-11 road falls just outside the municipal boundaries of Lleida – which recently banned street prostitution.
Colorado's most haunted hotel, The Stanley Hotel, is offering special packages for Halloween. Stephen King wrote The Shining in room 217 after learning how Flora Stanley, the hotel's first owner, died. She can still be heard playing the piano and seen wandering around in the lobby. Guests say if you stay in room 418 you'll hear children playing outside the door.

Nearly 200 people gathered at a UFO conference in suburban Philadelphia to discuss accounts of recent sightings, speculate about what one should do if taken aboard an alien spacecraft and generally insist that “the truth is out there.” The Mutual UFO Network, which organized Saturday’s conference at the Sheraton Bucks County Hotel — the third in the county in as many years — says it has 364 reports of sightings in the commonwealth last year. And officials say that may be understating the real number because people are too afraid of ridicule to come forward.

Johnny Depp recently visited a London school dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow. A young girl wrote him a letter after learning he was filming Pirates of the Caribbean nearby. Beatrice Delap's request read: 'Captain Jack Sparrow, At Meridian Primary School, we are a bunch of budding young pirates and we were having a bit of trouble mutiny-ing against the teachers, and we'd love if you could come and help. 'Beatrice Delap, aged nine, a budding pirate.'" She says, "He gave me a hug and he said, "Maybe we shouldn't mutiny today 'cos there are police outside monitoring me."'
