What The Hell Theater 5/31

This might be a first. On Sunday, in Massachusetts, a 26-year-old guy was injured at a Memorial Day party, in a SNOWMOBILE crash. This guy had removed the skis on the snowmobile and replaced them with wheels. He was showing it off to his friends when he lost control and crashed. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

In Florida, police busted a couple for having extremely UNSAFE SEX. They may've been using a condom or they may not have, but the REAL unsafe part was that they'd broken into a public park and were getting-it-on on top of a 30-foot-high DIVING BOARD. They were charged with trespassing. The diving board was bleached before the pool was opened the next morning.

ROAD RAGE!

You're right: The other people on the road ARE completely unqualified. According to a study, 18% of people would fail their state's written driving test if they had to retake it tomorrow. That multiplies out to about 37 MILLION Americans. The study also found that men are more qualified to drive than women . . . 27.2% of women would fail the test versus 13.6% of men.

What The Hell Theater

Well this is just psychotic. In Washington, a dad grounded his 15-year-old daughter and took away her cell phone. And she responded by . . . SHOOTING HIM with a bow-and-arrow. He was airlifted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries . . . she's been arrested for first-degree assault.

There's a guy in Ohio called the MULLET BANDIT who robs banks . . . and is best identified by his luxurious brown mullet. Well, he knows the police are on to him . . . so when he robbed a bank on Wednesday, rather than cut the mullet, he tucked it into his hat. Police and the FBI are still looking for this guy.

CW TV: What's New, Who's back & Who got axed

The CW previously announced that they're NOT bringing their cheerleading show "Hellcats" back. But amazingly, they are bringing "One Tree Hill" back for one last season. There will be 13 more episodes.

The CW has also renewed:
"90210"
"America's Next Top Model"
"Gossip Girl"
"Nikita"
"Supernatural"
"The Vampire Diaries"

The CW revealed they're launching six new shows . . . three dramas and three reality shows. Here's the quick rundown:

"The Ringer": This show is essentially a hand-me-down. It was originally being developed at CBS . . . but it didn't make their cut. The CW picked it up, and they're talking it up like it's the head of the class. It features Sarah Michelle Gellar playing twins . . . one who's "a recovering junkie with a dark past," and one who's rich and has "a dark present." Clever. The action begins when the junkie twin witnesses a murder, and is being chased down by the mob. She begins masquerading as her twin . . . but discovers that her sister's life is "just as complicated and dangerous" as her own.

"Hart of Dixie": Rachel Bilson plays a New York City doctor who moves to an eccentric small town in rural Alabama to become a general practitioner. Which basically sounds like the female version of "Everwood" . . . and "Doc Hollywood".

"The Secret Circle": This drama seems a lot like "Vampire Diaries" . . . only with witches. And that makes sense because it's based on a series of books by L.J. Smith, the woman who also wrote the books that "Vampire Diaries" is based on. The hot young cast includes Thomas Dekker, a.k.a. John Connor on "The Sarah Connor Chronicles".

"H8R": Yes, that's "Hater" . It's a reality show hosted by Mario Lopez, in which celebrities go "head-to-head" with normal people who HATE them. The celebrities' objective is apparently to "win over" their haters. There are different stars each week. Kim Kardashian and Snooki are the only two they've announced so far.

"The Frame": A "Big Brother"-type show where pairs of people are filmed 24/7, while living together in seclusion somewhere . . . and can be sent home by viewers.

"Re-Modeled": A reality show about modeling agencies.

NBC TV:: What's New This Season?

This week, all the major networks will be unveiling their schedules for next season. NBC is up first, and for the second year in a row they're launching a TON of new shows. Here's a quick summary of the 12 new shows:

  • "Awake": Drama. Starring British actor Jason Isaacs ("Harry Potter" series) & Wilmer Valderrama ("That 70's Show")... Isaacs plays a police detective who finds himself in two realities after a car accident on the job. You'd know Isaacs as Draco Malfoy's dad in the "Harry Potter" movies.

  • "Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea": Comdey. Starring Laura Prepon ("That 70's Show")... The story is loosely based on Chelsea Handler's life. Prepon plays Chelsea, and Chelsea will have a recurring role as her own sister.

  • "Bent": Sitcom. Starring Amanda Peete. It's about a recently divorced mom and her relationship with the contractor she hired to redo her kitchen.

  • "BFFs": Comedy. The title, of course, stands for Best Friends Forever. It's about "a woman and her live-in boyfriend who wind up taking in her distraught and pushy best girlfriend after a divorce."

  • "The Firm": Drama. It's based on the 1991 John Grisham novel, which was made into a Tom Cruise movie back in 1993. The series will take place 10 years after the movie left off.

  • "Free Agents": Sitcom. Starring Hank Azaria ("The Simpsons") and Kathryn Hahn ("Crossing Jordan")... P.R. execs on "romantic rebounds." It's based on a British show of the same name.

  • "Grimm": Drama... about cops who protect innocent people from the kinds of evil beasts that were described in Grimm's Fairy Tales.

  • "The Playboy Club": Drama. Starring Amber Heard ("Pineapple Express") and Eddie Cibrian ("CSI: Miami")... about a Chicago Playboy club set in the 1960s. (--There's been talk that it might push the envelope, nudity-wise, for a show on a broadcast network.)

  • "Prime Suspect": Crime Drama. Starring Maria Bello ... A remake of a British crime show that starred Helen Mirren. Bello you may know from "A History of Violence", "Coyote Ugly" and "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor".

  • "Smash": A "musical drama". Starring Debra Messing ("Will & Grace"), Katherine McPhee ("American Idol" loser), Anjelica Huston ("Medium", "Adams Family"). Some people are saying it's like "Glee" for adults.

  • "Up All Night": Sitcom. Starring Christina Applegate ("Married, With Children"), Will Arnett ("30 Rock"), Maya Ruldolph ("SNL")... Applegate plays a working mother and Arnett is her stay-at-home husband. It also stars .

  • "Whitney": A "relationship comedy". Based on the standup comedy of Whitney Cummings.

30 Rock" won't be back on the schedule until winter because of TINA FEY'S pregnancy. And although NBC is bringing "Chuck" back, this will be the show's final season.

Word has it that JENNIFER LOVE-HEWITT is in the running to land a lead role on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit". She'd be taking MARISKA HARGITAY'S spot. Deadline.com says Mariska wanted a decreased workload, so producers agreed to give her character a promotion halfway through the upcoming season, which would cut down on her screen time.

And NBC will bring "Sunday Night Football" back, assuming there IS football this fall. If there isn't, or if the season is delayed a few weeks, NBC has some, quote, "high-quality, live entertainment reality-type shows that would fill the gap."

Also, "Celebrity Apprentice" will return, with or without DONALD TRUMP. If he DOES run for president, they'll get someone to take his place. NBC has not said who that would be.

979X What The Hell Theater

For the past week, an ARMED GRANDMOTHER has been robbing other women in the parking lots of Walmart, Kohl's, and Target in Southern California. She was described as being in her 80s. Well, the police caught her, and clearly she hasn't aged well . . . because she's actually just FIFTY-ONE. But she is, in fact, a grandmother. FULL STORY

In Houston, police busted a car wash for being a go-to for everything illegal. They were running a dominoes gambling ring. They sold marijuana. They sold prescription drugs. They sold liquor. And weirdest of all, they sold . . . sweet, delicious, illegal RACCOON MEAT. Four employees were arrested. FULL STORY

BONUS STORY: In Missouri, a woman was arrested for leaving her nine-month-old baby in a car, alone, in almost 90 degree weather while she tried to go into a bar . . . TOPLESS. Fortunately, her nudity drew a crowd and they saw the baby in the car. The woman was arrested. Police didn't say why she was topless, if she was high or drunk at the time . . . but she does have an unrelated heroin charge pending. FULL STORY

Sheen or No Sheen?

A lawsuit was filed this week, accusing a, quote, "A-list celebrity" of giving someone HERPES. The problem is, the celebrity isn't named in the lawsuit. Neither is the defendant, who claims to have met the plaintiff in Las Vegas, and went to his penthouse for, quote, "an evening of prolonged sex and illicit drug use." The festivities included watching porno, plus, quote, "mutual oral copulation, mutual self-gratification, rubbing and massaging each other, play-wrestling, licking and (unprotected) intercourse." Oh, and it was VIDEOTAPED. The plaintiff , who is never identified as male or female in the lawsuit, says that before ANY sexual activity took place, the celebrity clearly stated that he did NOT have any STDs. The plaintiff is suing for at least $20 million. There are very few clues in the lawsuit as to the identity of the plaintiff. Although it does say he has "appeared widely on television and film", and his net worth is at least $100 million. View the full lawsuit papers HERE.

Fill'er Up!

Rental car companies have always charged a major premium on gas if you return your car to them without topping off the tank. And now that gas already costs a fortune, the rental car companies have stayed right in stride. A survey by "USA Today" found that if you don't return your rental car with a full tank, the average price they'll charge you per gallon is NINE DOLLARS. So if you rented an SUV with a 22-gallon tank and returned it basically bone dry, you'd owe them $200 for gas.

The Freedom NOT to Shave.

Gary Weddle is a science teacher at Ephrata Middle School in Ephrata, Washington. On September 11th, 2001, he vowed to his students that he would never shave his face again until OSAMA BIN LADEN was caught. And he kept his vow. By last week, his beard was so insanely long he could've been MISTAKEN for bin Laden. On Sunday, after PRESIDENT OBAMA'S announcement, Gary finally realized he was going to get to shave. After 3,454 days. Gary says people would constantly tell him that bin Laden was probably dead and we didn't realize it . . . or he was alive and we'd never find him . . . or that he'd die and his body would never be recovered. But he was willing to never shave again for the rest of his life out of his spirit of faith and patriotism. On Monday, he shaved his beard off . . . and from the photos, he looks about 20 years younger.

Who's That?

On Sunday night, the fifth-most common OSAMA BIN LADEN-related question on Yahoo was: "Who is Osama bin Laden?" And according to Yahoo, 66% of the people asking that were between 13 and 17. There's also a screen grab floating around from Twitter on Sunday night with a stream of people asking questions like, quote, "Who is Osama bin Laden? Is he famous? Am I the only one who don't know who is he?" (Click photo above)

1626 - Peter Minuit, a Dutch colonist, landed on the island of MANHATTAN. He eventually bought the island from the Indians for beads and trinkets that were worth about $24.
(That translates to about $1,000 in modern U.S. dollars. Which is still nothing, especially considering that a studio apartment on that island rents for at least twice that per month.)

1959 - The FIRST ANNUAL GRAMMY AWARDS were held. There were two simultaneous, untelevised ceremonies in Los Angeles and New York . . . because they didn't think recording artists would want to travel just to get an award.

1968 - One small step for man, one giant, out-of-breath waddle for chubbykind: The BIG MAC debuted at McDonald's.

ZOMBIES!!!

People who've played "Call of Duty: Black Ops" know it includes a zombie mode where four players fight an army of the undead. You play as John F. Kennedy, Fidel Castro, Richard Nixon and JFK's Secretary of Defense, Robert McNamara. That's pretty cool in and of itself. But you're really going to love what they're putting into the latest downloadable map pack. This time, the four people fighting the zombies are "Machete" star Danny Trejo, "Nightmare on Elm Street" legend Robert Englund (a.k.a. Freddy Krueger), "Buffy the Vampire Slayer's" Sarah Michelle Gellar, and one of the guys from AMC's zombie show "The Walking Dead". The actor's name is Michael Rooker, but you'd know him as Merle, the racist redneck they handcuffed to the roof. He's pretty bad-ass on the show too. By the time they went back to rescue him, he'd cut off his own hand and cauterized the stump. But wanna know the best part? The whole thing is inspired by "Night of the Living Dead" genius George A. Romero and George Romero himself has been added to the list of enemies as sort of the zombie king.
